Occupation commits 7 massacres in Gaza, killing around 14,000 children in the strip
With the continuation of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, the occupation's intense bombardment has resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounded in the south and center of the Strip, while efforts continue to extract the martyrs from the rubble of the Nuseirat camp. after the withdrawal of the occupying army, and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced the martyrdom of 13,000 and 800 children in Gaza since the start of the war.
The Gaza Strip Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that the Israeli occupation army had committed 7 massacres in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, resulting in the death of 71 Palestinians and the injury of 106 others.
Thus, the toll of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip amounts to 33,970 martyrs and 76,770 wounded since the start of the war.
The Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) – also announced that its resistance fighters had managed to shoot an Israeli soldier east of Beit Hanoun in the northern Strip. from Gaza.
Martyrs and wounded
Al Jazeera correspondent reported that 11 martyrs were killed in an Israeli raid targeting a residential area in the Al Salam neighborhood, east of the town of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
A Palestinian was also killed by Israeli sniper bullets this morning, east of the town of Deir al-Balah, and his body was transferred to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the town.
Since dawn today, the occupying forces have continued their bombardments on eastern areas of the central region of the Gaza Strip.
Several Palestinians were injured following an Israeli bombardment targeting them in the Al-Mughraqa neighborhood of Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip. The Al-Jazeera correspondent said the Palestinians were targeted after returning to the area to inspect their homes. after the partial withdrawal of the occupying forces.
Al Jazeera correspondent said 6 people, including 4 children, were killed following an Israeli bombardment on a school housing displaced people in the Gaza City beach camp. The journalist indicated that searches were underway to find a child who was still under the rubble.
For his part, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza, Raed Al-Nims, declared that the occupation prevents access to the wounded in several areas of the Gaza Strip.
He explained that the association operates with modest capacities due to the occupation's refusal to introduce new equipment.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, he called on the international community to take serious measures to end the aggression against the Gaza Strip.
The martyrs were recovered in Nuseirat
Also in the Nuseirat camp, the Gaza Civil Defense said it continues to recover many martyrs from the rubble after the withdrawal of occupation from the region.
Medical sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that rescue teams have so far managed to extract 9 martyrs from the rubble of the camp.
Al Jazeera also obtained photos showing the effects of the destruction left by the occupation after its withdrawal from the New Camp area and the Al-Mughraqa area within the camp.
The photos show occupying forces completely destroying residential towers in the New Camp area, bulldozing agricultural land, and destroying infrastructure.
A difficult situation
For his part, Nuseirat Mayor Iyad Maghari said that Israeli aggression deprived residents of the most basic human services, such as water, sanitation, and waste collection, which led to the spread of diseases due to water shortages and the spread of insects and rodents due to the accumulation of waste in the streets.
The Mayor of Nuseirat added that sewage is overflowing in some streets of Nuseirat due to fuel shortage and the occupation's destruction of main water and sewer lines, as part of its deliberate targeting of infrastructure.
Maghari called on the international community to provide for the needs of municipalities, including fuel to operate water wells, sewage pumps, and heavy equipment needed to clear rubble and recover the bodies of martyrs.
For her part, Catherine Russell, executive director of UNICEF, declared that 13,800 children "have been killed in Gaza since the start of the war, and thousands have been injured, while there are thousands more others on the verge of starvation.
There is an urgent need for field hospitals
In the same context, the spokesperson for the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf Al-Qudra, said that the Israeli occupation was deliberately destroying the health system in Gaza and the northern regions.
He pointed out that the ministry lost medical staff who formed the backbone of services in the oncology and kidney specialties.
The spokesperson explained in a statement on Thursday that more than 730,000 people in Gaza and the north are deprived of meaningful health services.
Al-Qudra stressed that the destruction of the Al-Shifa medical complex was a devastating blow to Gaza's health system.
He said Gaza currently needs field surgical hospitals with a capacity of 200 beds, including operating theaters and intensive care.
